Coated paper is the workhorse of label printing. It reproduces colour and fine detail cleanly, costs less than synthetic films, and suits the large majority of dry-goods products. Coated label printing is where most food, confectionery and packaged-goods brands start.

Gloss or Matt

Gloss coated stock lifts colour saturation and makes photography look richer — the usual choice for confectionery, snacks and anything appetite-driven. Matt coated reads as more restrained and premium, and it takes handwriting and stamps if you need to add batch information manually. Both accept varnish, lamination and spot UV.

Where Coated Paper Works — and Where It Does Not

Coated paper is the right choice for dry products stored at room temperature: jars, tins, boxes, bottles that will not be chilled. It is not the right choice where the label will meet moisture, condensation or oil — a bottle that goes in a fridge or a product handled with wet hands needs a synthetic film instead. We will tell you when that is the case rather than sell you the cheaper option that fails.

Formats and Finishing

  • Sheet labels for manual application and short runs
  • Roll labels for automatic applicators and higher volumes
  • Die-cutting to any shape, including custom contours
  • Matt or gloss lamination for scuff resistance
  • Spot UV, foiling and embossing for premium lines
  • Variable data for batch codes, serial numbers and QR codes

Our Process

1. Specification

Product, container, storage conditions and application method — manual or automatic. These decide stock, adhesive and format.

2. Preflight and die

We check bleed, cutting contour and colour space, and either use an existing die or produce a new one for a custom shape.

3. Proof

A printed proof on the actual stock, checked applied to your real container rather than viewed flat.

4. Production

Printing, finishing, die-cutting and either sheeting or rewinding to your applicator’s specification.

Why Reklart

We print labels in-house and design them too, so when a file needs adjusting for the die or a colour needs correcting for the substrate we simply do it. We supply food producers, cosmetics brands and industrial manufacturers, and we can hold artwork on file for straightforward repeat runs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use coated labels on refrigerated products?
Generally no — condensation will lift and wrinkle paper. We would recommend PP or a synthetic film for that application.

Can you match a specific brand colour?
Yes. We work to Pantone references and can proof to confirm before the run.

What roll specification do you need?
Core diameter, winding direction and labels per roll — send your applicator specification and we will wind to match.

Can you print small quantities?
Yes. Digital printing makes short runs viable, which is useful for new product launches and testing.
